Nak Kalyana Mantapa

This hall has been part of Mysore Road for quite a while now. We are located at number 23, right in the New Timber Layout area, near the GEF stop. If you know the 4th Main road, you can find us pretty easily. It is a big building and it takes a lot of effort to keep it looking okay. Every morning, we are out there sweeping the front and making sure the inside is tidy. Mysore Road is always packed with cars and buses, so the dust is a constant problem we have to deal with. The mantapa itself is a practical space. We have the main hall and the kitchen area where things get really hectic when there's an event going on. We don't use any big words to describe it; it’s just a place for families to get together. There are plenty of chairs to stack and unstack, and the floors always need a good scrub after people leave. It is hard work, especially when the weather is hot and the fans are running full speed. We just focus on the basic stuff like making sure the lights work and the water is running. It is a local place run by people who live nearby, and we just take it one day at a time. The New Timber Layout is a specific kind of neighborhood, and we fit right in with the other buildings around the area.
