Out at 26 C / 27 A in the Peenya Industrial Area, that’s where Nagel Special Machines Pvt Ltd is based. We’re tucked away on 2Nd Main, 2Nd Cross, not far from the 150 Mysore Rd in Nayandahalli. It’s a bit of a maze back here if you don’t know the turns. The building is solid and has been around for quite a while. We do a lot of heavy lifting and precision work, so the floor is always busy. There’s a specific smell of coolant and metal shavings that you just get used to after the first week. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy showroom. We just have our workspace and the machines we use every day. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit of a mess, but we still make it in. The loading dock is a bit small, so it takes some skill for the big trucks to back in without hitting anything. We’ve got a stray cat that hangs around the back gate, and some of the guys leave out scraps of food for it. It's a rough-around-the-edges kind of place, but it’s where we spend our days. We’re a group of people who prefer working with our hands rather than sitting behind a computer screen all day. There are a lot of crates stacked up near the entrance, waiting to be shipped out or unpacked. We take breaks when we can, usually leaning against the workbenches and talking about things.
