Meenakshi Time Centre

Meenakshi Time Centre is located at number 7 on P S Lane, right across from the Rajadhani Lodge in Chickpet. This part of the city is always crowded, and P S Lane is no exception. It’s one of those narrow streets where you have to move out of the way for carts and people carrying big bundles of goods. Our shop is quite small, tucked between a couple of other busy storefronts. We’ve got watches and clocks piled up in every available space. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people come inside at once, but we make it work. The air is often thick with the smell of the city, and the sounds of the market are always there in the background. We spend our days hunched over the counter, working on small movements and tiny gears. We don't have a computer system or anything modern; we mostly just use a paper ledger to keep track of things. The light inside isn’t the best, so we use desk lamps to see what we are doing. Being opposite the lodge means we see a lot of travelers coming and going, which makes for interesting people-watching. We’ve been in Chickpet for many years and have seen the street change, though it always stays just as busy. It’s an honest way to spend the day, even if the space is tight and the noise is constant. We just keep our heads down.
