Meenakshi Engineering Works

Meenakshi Engineering Works is a small shop at No 6, Ashok Nagar. We’re right by the Kalyani Garden in the Gavipuram Extension. It’s actually a nice little spot because we can see some trees from the front door, which you don’t always get in this line of work. Our workshop is mostly full of metal scraps and heavy-duty tools. We do a lot of manual labor here—grinding, cutting, and fitting things together. It’s loud, and there’s usually a bit of smoke or dust hanging in the air. We’ve got a couple of old benches that have been here since the start, and they’re covered in scratches and oil stains. We don’t bother much with making the place look pretty. As long as the machines are oiled and the tools are sharp, we’re happy. The Gavipuram area is mostly residential, so we try not to start the really noisy stuff too early in the morning. We have some regular customers who have been coming to us for years. They know we’ll just tell them straight if something can be fixed or if it’s junk. Usually, the radio is on a local station, playing some songs while we work. It’s a steady pace of life. Expansion into a massive factory isn't something we want; we like being the local shop in Ashok Nagar where people can bring their engineering problems and get an honest day’s work in return.
