Maruti Times

Maruti Times is tucked into 594/1 Maruti Plaza, right by the Ganapati Mandir in Chickpet. If you know Chickpet, you know how crowded and lively it gets every single day. The shop isn't very big, but we make the most of the space we have. We have glass cases filled with all sorts of things, and the ticking sound from the various clocks is something you stop noticing after the first hour. Being so close to the temple means we hear the bells and the chants throughout the day, which is actually quite nice compared to the usual traffic noise. Most of our time is spent talking to people who wander in while they are out doing their shopping in the plaza. It can get pretty dusty with the doors open to the street, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the counters. It is a very simple operation here. We don't have fancy lights or a big marketing budget. We just open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait for the regulars to stop by. Sometimes the shop feels a bit small when more than three people are inside at once, but we make it work. It is just a local Chickpet spot where we have been for a good while. Dealing with the constant flow of people in the plaza is just part of the daily routine for us. It is honest work in a very busy part of town.
