Mandarin Restaurant At Grand Ashok

Mandarin is located at number 5095 inside the Grand Ashok Hotel. We are on Kumara Krupa Guest House Road in the Kumara Park West area. This part of the city has a lot of old trees and it’s generally quieter than the shopping districts. We’ve been serving food here for a good while. The restaurant is a bit tucked away inside the hotel. We have a set of regular customers who come for the specific dishes we’ve been making the same way for years. Our kitchen is fairly small, but we manage to keep up with the orders. We use a lot of ginger, garlic, and soy sauce in most of our recipes. The staff knows the menu by heart. We don't really do anything trendy or new. It’s just the usual stuff people expect when they want this kind of food. The tables have white cloths that we have to wash and iron constantly to keep them looking okay. Sometimes the hotel has events, and we get a bit more crowded than usual. We don't have a lot of wall decorations, just some simple stuff here and there. The chairs are comfortable enough for a long meal. We just focus on getting the food out hot and making sure people have what they need at their table. It’s a steady job for all of us here. We see the same faces every week, which makes it feel like a small community.
