M Thendral Handlooms

M Thendral Handlooms is situated in the Dhanlaxmi Society in Chickpet. If you know Chickpet, you know the streets are narrow and always full of people and goods being moved around. We’ve been part of this area for quite some time. Our shop isn't fancy at all. We focus on handlooms, and we have piles of fabric all over the place. It’s a very traditional kind of setting. We don’t use any computers or high-tech systems to run the shop. We just keep our records in books like we always have. There are only a few of us here, and we’ve all been doing this for a long time. We understand the fabrics and the work that goes into them. Dhanlaxmi Society is a busy place, and it can get a bit loud during the day. We’ve learned to work through the noise. We don't do any marketing or have a presence on the internet. People find us because they know what we have or someone told them where to look. It’s a very word-of-mouth type of business. The shop can be a bit dusty from all the cloth, but we don't mind. It feels like a real workspace. We enjoy the history of Chickpet and are glad to have our small spot here. We don't plan on changing how we do things anytime soon. We just keep the tradition going.
