Our shop is over at Plot No. 5C in the Doddannekundi 1st Phase Industrial Area. M. E. Forge has been in this spot for quite a long time now. The industrial area is always full of different noises and some smoke from the other factories nearby. We fit right into the neighborhood with our heavy hammers and the furnaces. It gets really hot when we are working near the forge, especially in the late afternoon. We wear our heavy work gear, but you still feel the heat in your bones. The plot is not anything fancy to look at. It is just a big concrete building with some heavy machinery bolted down to the floor so it does not move. We spend the first part of the morning getting the fires ready and then the rest of the day hitting metal into the right shapes. There is a lot of black soot on the walls and we do not bother painting them much because they would just get dirty again in a week anyway. Doddannekundi is a busy place and there is always a truck trying to squeeze through the gates or someone looking for a specific part. We do not have a big fancy sign out front, just the name painted on the gate so people know it is us. It is a lot of hard physical labor and your back usually hurts by the end of the shift. We are not trying to be fancy. We just do the forging work and keep the shop running. The floors are a bit uneven but we know where to step.
