Living Edge Architects And Designers is up on the 3rd Floor at 50, 16th Main, HAL 2nd Stage. Being on the third floor means we get a decent bit of exercise since the lift is sometimes a bit moody. The office has a lot of natural light coming in which is nice for looking at drawings, though it does get quite hot in the summer months. We have shelves filled with old architecture books and folders that have been there since we moved in. The neighborhood is usually quite lively, and you can hear the sounds of the street throughout the day. We have a few long tables where we spread out our plans, and there is almost always a half-finished cup of tea sitting somewhere. It’s a bit messy here with all the rulers, pencils, and computer cables crisscrossing the floor, but we know where everything is. Most of the work involves staring at screens or arguing about where a wall should go. We don't really go for a polished look in the office because we are too busy actually working on things. The trash can is usually overflowing with crumpled up sketches by the end of the week. It is just a bunch of people trying to get things designed correctly and making sure the files are saved before the power might flicker. We spend a lot of time just chatting about how to fix things.
