Maya Architect

We spend most of our days here at the Adichunchanagiri Complex in Vijayanagar. Our office is on the first floor of the east wing, at number eighteen. It is usually pretty busy with rolls of paper and various sketches lying around on the desks. We have been in this spot for a while now. Most mornings start with someone making tea and checking the schedule for what needs to get done before the sun goes down. People drop by to talk about their house plans or just to check on how a drawing is coming along. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where we get things drawn up and sorted. Some days are quieter than others, especially when we are out on sites checking how the construction is looking compared to what we put on paper. Vijayanagar is a good area for us because it's central and easy for folks to find. The stairs up to the first floor can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them, but we like the light we get in the east wing during the early hours. Usually, there is some background noise from the street below, but we've gotten used to it. We mostly just focus on getting measurements right and making sure the layouts make sense for whoever is going to live there. Sometimes we stay late when a deadline is close, just eating snacks and finishing final details. It’s a bit cramped with all the blueprints, but it works for us.
