Kiran Engg Works

Over in Jalahalli, specifically Kammagondanahalli West 2, you’ll find Kiran Engg Works. It’s a workshop where we mostly focus on the mechanical side of things. We have a couple of lathes and some drilling machines that have seen better days but still run fine if you know how to handle them. The place isn't very large, and it’s usually quite dark because we keep the shutters halfway down to block the sun. It smells like cutting oil and hot metal most of the time. We aren't doing anything fancy here. People bring in broken parts or pieces that need a bit of shaving down to fit. We spend a lot of time measuring with calipers and squinting at blueprints. Kammagondanahalli is a working-class neighborhood, and we fit right in with the other small shops on the street. Sometimes a neighbor will drop by just to chat while we are in the middle of a job. We just keep our heads down and do the turning and milling as needed. There is an old radio in the corner that plays the news, but half the time we can't hear it over the sound of the machines. We keep our tools on a pegboard that is starting to sag, but we know where everything is. It is just an honest day's work for us, making sure things fit together like they are supposed to. We don't think about it much more than that, just getting things finished.
