Karnataka Handloom Development Corporation Ltd. is situated at No. 1, Tank Road Ulsoor. This part of Bangalore has a lot of history and you can feel it when you walk around the area. Our building is where we keep track of the handloom work and the weavers. It is a bit of an old-fashioned setup. We have stacks of cotton and silk fabrics everywhere, and the smell of the yarn is very distinct. We don't do things in a very modern or fast way. It is more about the traditional process of weaving and making sure the looms are working right. The office is pretty basic with old wooden desks and fans that squeak a bit. We spend our time talking to the weavers and checking the quality of the cloth that comes in. It is a slow kind of work compared to the big factories. Ulsoor is a nice area, and being on Tank Road means we are close to the water, which is a bit of a relief in the heat. We don't have any slick marketing teams. We are just people who care about how the fabric is made. There are always pieces of thread on the floor and the sound of people chatting in the hallways. It’s a steady, quiet place where we keep the old traditions going as best as we can.
