Karavalli (The Taj Gateway Hotel)

We are located on the ground floor of No. 66, Residency Road in Bangalore. If you’re looking for us, we are right across from the Galaxy Complex and quite close to the Honda showroom. Even though we are part of the Taj Gateway Hotel, we try to keep things feeling grounded and personal. The restaurant is named Karavalli, and we focus on the food from the coastal regions. Our staff spends a lot of time learning the old ways of cooking because that’s what people expect when they come here. The space is designed to feel a bit like a traditional home, with plenty of wood and a quiet atmosphere compared to the noise of Residency Road outside. We don’t use a lot of marketing talk. We just want to serve meals that remind people of home or of trips to the coast. The kitchen is the heart of the place, and our cooks have been with us for a long time. We don't think of ourselves as a big corporate entity when we are on the floor; we just see ourselves as hosts. Bangalore is a fast-paced city, but inside our doors, things move a bit slower. We take the time to get the spices right and make sure the service is steady. It’s just a place to eat good food in a comfortable setting without any unnecessary drama or flash.
