Kanchi Sarees

Kanchi Sarees is located on Margosa Road at the 8th Cross. We are right across from the Department of Commercial Tax Office in Malleshwaram. It’s a nice area with big trees that drop leaves all over the sidewalk. We spend a lot of time sweeping those leaves away from our front door. The shop has a quiet feel compared to the busier parts of the city. Inside, we have a lot of wooden shelves that we built ourselves years ago. They hold the sarees that we bring in. We don't have a big fancy sign, just a basic one that lets people know where we are. The tax office across the street brings a lot of people to the area, so we see a lot of folks walking by with files under their arms. Sometimes they pop in just to look around while they wait for their turn over there. We don't have a computer system for our sales. We just use a carbon-copy receipt book and a calculator that has seen better days. The fan overhead hums quite loudly, but it keeps the air moving. We take our lunch in the back room where it’s a bit cooler. It’s not a high-tech operation. We just know our fabrics and we know our regulars. We keep things simple and try to get through the work without too much fuss.
