About Kaladhar Music School – Education in Bengaluru
If you walk down 2nd Main in Vijaya Nagar and turn at 4th Cross, you’ll find us in the RPC Layout. The building is an older one and the stairs are a bit narrow, so carrying the bigger instruments up can be a real pain. We have a couple of rooms where students sit on the floor. Most of the time there’s a mix of sounds coming from different corners, someone on a flute and maybe a beginner trying the violin. It’s never really quiet here. I usually have a cup of tea sitting on my desk that’s gone cold because I got distracted by a student's rhythm. We don’t have fancy soundproofing, so the neighbors probably know all the songs we practice. It’s just how it is in this part of town. The walls are painted a light yellow that’s peeling a bit near the ceiling. I haven’t gotten around to fixing that yet. Students come in after their school hours, dropping their heavy bags by the door. We spend a lot of time talking about notes and tuning things. Sometimes the strings break and we have to hunt for spares in the junk drawer. It’s a bit messy with all the sheet music piled up, but we know where everything is. People from around RPC Layout just walk over. It feels like a second home to a lot of the kids who come here every week.
