K C Stores

Chickpet is a crazy place to have a shop. People are always rushing and shouting and trying to get somewhere. Our spot is right on Balepet Road. It has been K C Stores for a long time now. The building is quite old and the stairs inside are narrow. You can hear the traffic and the constant honking of horns all day long. Sometimes it feels like the whole of Bangalore is trying to squeeze through this one single road. I spend most of my time behind the wooden counter. We have heaps of boxes piled up in the corners. It is not very organized, but I know exactly where everything is kept. If someone asks for something specific, I can usually find it in a minute or two. We deal with all sorts of items for the house. Some days are slow, especially when it rains and the water collects on the road outside. Other days we do not even have enough time to sit down or eat lunch. My brother sits here with me most of the time. We drink a lot of coffee from the nearby hotel to stay awake. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but who has the time to move everything out? People come from all over the city to Balepet to find things they can't get elsewhere. We just try to keep the stock moving and the customers happy. It is a lot of hard work but we are used to it now.
