Down in St Thomas Town, specifically the Sait Palya side, we have this small unit at 83/3. It’s where we put things together and get them ready. Lingarajpura is always crowded, so getting supplies delivered to the door is a bit of a headache. We have a couple of worktables and some shelves that we built ourselves out of old wood. It’s not a fancy place, just where we do the packing and the sorting. You can hear the church bells from here sometimes. We have some machines that make a bit of a hum, but you get used to it after an hour. The floor is a bit uneven, so we had to put cardboard under the legs of the tables to stop them from wobbling. We keep the inventory in the back room where it's a bit darker and cooler. Usually, it's just two or three of us working here at a time. We drink a lot of tea from the stall at the corner. The door stays open for the breeze, though it lets in the dust from the street too. We spend a lot of time counting items and making sure the boxes are taped up tight so nothing breaks. It’s just a steady rhythm of work that doesn't really stop until late evening. There is always something to do, like cleaning the tools or checking the labels again. We just stay focused on the tasks in front of us and try to get the orders out before the delivery guy shows up.
