Down at B-14 in Bel Estate is where Jap Engineering has been set up for some time now. The estate is a mix of different small businesses and workshops, so there is always a bit of noise from neighbors working on their own projects. Our unit, B-14, is mostly taken up by our tools and the benches where we do our engineering work. It’s not a fancy place, and we often have bits of metal or scrap laying around until we have time to clear it all out. We don't have any formal dress code here; we just wear what’s comfortable and safe for the workshop environment. Most of the guys here have been doing this for a long time and they know their way around a lathe or a drill better than a computer screen. We usually get our coffee or tea from a small shop just outside the estate gates. The lighting inside can be a bit dim in the corners, but we have lamps where we need them most for the precision work. We don't spend any money on marketing or fancy polished brochures. Most people find us by word of mouth or by just walking into the estate and asking around for the engineering unit. It’s a quiet and steady way to run a business, but it works for us. We just focus on the engineering side of things and try to make sure everything that leaves B-14 is done right. It is what it is.
