Janatha Hotel

We sit right here at 33 Bangalore GPO, right in the heart of the 560001 area. It is a busy spot where the post office workers and people running errands usually end up. The building has been around for a long time and you can see it in the walls. We open up early when the air is still a bit cool. The first thing we do is get the big pots ready. The benches are made of heavy wood and they have some scratches from years of use. It gets very loud around noon because everyone is in a hurry. You’ll hear the clinking of spoons and people talking over each other. We don't have fancy menus or anything like that. Just a board on the wall sometimes. The floor is made of old tiles that are easy to wash down at the end of the day. There is a lot of dust from the street outside so we are always wiping things. It isn't a place for a long meeting, just for a quick meal before you get back to work. We don't try to be anything special. People come here because they know what to expect and they’ve been coming for years. Some families bring their kids who then grow up and come back on their own. It is just a regular hotel in a busy part of Bangalore.
