About James Institute Of Modern Music – Education in Bengaluru
If you head down to Malleshwaram, on 4th Cross and Sampige Road, you’ll find James Institute Of Modern Music at number 46. It’s an old part of the city with a lot of history. Our building has been part of this street for quite some time. Since we deal with music, there is almost always some sound coming from the back rooms—maybe a guitar or someone practicing scales. It’s not a silent office by any means. We have instruments leaning against the walls and sheet music scattered on the tables. The air often smells like the flowers from the market nearby on Sampige Road. We don't have a corporate vibe at all; it’s more like a community spot where people come to play. The furniture is a bit mismatched and the floorboards creak a little, but it suits us just fine. We spend our time scheduling lessons and making sure the instruments are in good shape. It’s a lot of coordination between teachers and students. Sometimes the rain makes the roof a bit noisy, but we just keep playing. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don't go in for big advertisements. Most people just hear the music and wander in to see what we are doing. It’s a simple life focused on the notes and the rhythms. We really like being here.
