Our office is in the St Patricks Complex at 21 Museum Road. It’s right in the Bangalore Bazaar area, which is a part of town that has been around forever. Being on Museum Road means we are surrounded by a lot of history and old trees. J Furtado Architect & Associates has been operating out of this spot for quite a while. The office feels a bit lived-in, with rolls of old plans tucked into corners and books about buildings everywhere. We aren't the type of firm that has a shiny glass office. We prefer being here in the heart of the old city. On a typical day, we are either drawing up new plans or talking to contractors on the phone. Sometimes we have to head out to see a project in person, but mostly we are right here at our desks. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed; we just focus on the architecture and try to get the details right. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, but our complex stays pretty much the same. People know where to find us if they need a plan for a house or an office. We don't do much in the way of advertising. Most people just hear about us through word of mouth or see our name on the directory. It’s a straightforward way to work, and it suits us just fine. We just keep drawing and designing.
