Hyd Mahal Restaurant

We are situated right on Church Street in Bangalore, specifically on the second floor. If you are walking down the street, you just have to look for the RR Restaurant and we are directly above it at number fifty-five. It’s a lively part of the city, so there is always noise from the street below, music coming from other shops, and the general buzz of Bangalore. Getting up to the second floor takes a little effort but once you’re here, it’s a bit away from the direct sidewalk crowd. We spend our mornings chopping vegetables and getting the rice started because the lunchtime crowd is usually pretty hungry. The kitchen gets hot quickly, especially in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the work. Our furniture is simple and the layout is basically just enough to fit the tables and chairs comfortably. It isn't a quiet place, especially on weekends when everyone is out on Church Street looking for something to eat. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that, just us making food and serving it to whoever walks up the stairs. The menu is what it is, mostly things we know how to cook well after doing it for so long. We see a lot of young people and office workers who need a break from their desks. It’s just a regular restaurant doing its thing every day in the middle of the city. We keep the doors open late and clean up when everyone leaves.
