Haute Couture

You’ll find us on the first floor of Gagan Raksha, that’s at number 14, 102 in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar. We are pretty close to the White House building, which most people use as a reference point. Being on the first floor means you have to walk up a few steps, but it gives us a nice view of the street below. Haute Couture is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a workshop as much as it is a shop. There’s usually the sound of a sewing machine or scissors hitting the table. We don't have a fancy reception desk; you just walk in and talk to whoever is free. It’s a bit of a busy atmosphere because there’s always a deadline or a fitting happening. We work with a lot of different patterns and styles. The space is filled with rolls of fabric and half-finished garments on hangers. It’s not always the tidiest place, but that’s because we’re actually making things here. We’ve been in RT Nagar for a good while and have a lot of regular clients who just drop by to see what we’re working on. We don't do big ads; word of mouth has always worked for us. It’s just a practical, hardworking space where clothes get made. Sometimes we get behind on things, but we always finish the job eventually. That's just the way it goes.
