J L Atelier Couture Design Pvt Ltd is situated on the 3rd floor of a building at 47/3 Bommanahalli, along the Yelahanka Road. We are right in the middle of the industrial area, which might seem like an odd place for a design studio, but it works for us. Up here on the third floor, it’s a bit quieter than the street below, though you can still hear the trucks and the general hum of the factories nearby. We spend our days working on different designs and sewing together pieces of clothing. The space is filled with rolls of fabric, cutting tables, and various sewing machines that are almost always running. It’s not a fancy boutique with velvet curtains. It is a workspace where things actually get made. We have pins and thread scattered around, and there’s always a project or two draped over a chair. We focus on the craft of making clothes rather than the glitter of the fashion world. Most of our time is spent looking at sketches and trying to get the fit just right on a garment. We aren't a big corporate fashion house. We are just a small team that likes to make things with our hands. It gets busy, and sometimes we stay late to finish an order, but that’s the nature of the work. We’ve been in this industrial spot for a while now and appreciate the focus it gives our daily routine.
