Hastkal Sarees

You have to go up to the first floor of the City Pride Multiplex building to find us. We’re at number 35 on Avenue Road. It’s a bit different being in a building like this instead of right on the street, but it keeps the dust off the sarees a bit better. The stairs can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them. We’ve been in this unit for several years. It’s just a basic room with lots of racks and a few chairs for people to sit while they look at the patterns. We don't have any fancy music playing or bright neon signs. Most of our work is just sorting through the new stock that comes in every week. It gets a bit crowded when we have a lot of deliveries, and we have to move boxes around to make a path. My wife helps me with the color matching because she has a better eye for it than I do. We aren't a big chain, just a family-run spot. People find us because they want something that hasn't been sitting in a window for months. We keep things simple. If we don’t have what you’re looking for, we’ll just say so. It’s better to be honest than to waste someone’s time. The multiplex is a good landmark, so nobody really gets lost trying to find our door. We just show up every morning and see what the day brings. It's a decent way to make a living.
