Harshini Silk & Sarees

We are located on the ground floor at number 33 in Phase I on Avenue Road. Harshini Silk & Sarees is a busy little place. If you know Avenue Road, you know how tight the streets can be. We have stacks of sarees everywhere, and sometimes it feels like we’re running out of room. People come in looking for something specific for a wedding or just for daily wear. We spend a lot of time draping fabric so people can see the patterns. It’s a lot of color and a lot of different textures. We don’t have a big fancy display window, just the entrance where we keep some of the newer arrivals. The ground floor location is good because people don’t have to climb any stairs. We get a lot of noise from the street, but that’s just part of being in this area. We try to keep things organized, but when it’s busy, things get a bit messy. We’ll have piles of silk on the counters and people talking all at once. It’s a good kind of chaos, though. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the regular shoppers by name. It’s a neighborhood business through and through. We just like what we do and we keep it simple. There's no point in making things more complicated than they have to be when you're selling beautiful clothes to local folks.
