Hari Music Institute

The music institute is located in Vivek Nagar, right near the Harni Warasia Ring Road at 492/7. It can get a bit loud here when everyone is practicing at once. We have different rooms for the instruments. Most days, you can hear a mix of singing and someone trying to learn the harmonium or guitar. It is not a silent place by any means. The neighbors are used to us by now. I spend a lot of time tuning instruments or talking to parents about their kids' progress. We have some older instruments that have been around for years. The walls have a few posters but mostly we just focus on the notes. It’s a local spot where people from the ring road area come by after school or work. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a short break. The floors are plain and we keep the benches pushed against the walls to make space for the bigger classes. It isn’t a corporate building with glass walls. It feels like a home where music happens. We stay open quite late most evenings because that is when the adults have time to come in. Teaching someone their first scale is always a slow process, but we just keep at it day after day. It’s nice to see the neighborhood kids get interested in something other than their phones for an hour or two while they learn an instrument.
