About Geetha Mandira Music School – Education in Bengaluru
If you walk down Sampige Road in Hanumanth Nagar, you’ll find us at number 389, right near the 17th Cross. Geetha Mandira Music School is a place where there's almost always someone playing an instrument. It’s not a quiet building, that’s for sure. We’ve got students coming in for all sorts of things—singing, playing the veena, or the violin. It’s a bit of a mix. The building is older, so it has that lived-in feel which I think suits the music. We don’t have soundproof rooms or high-tech recording gear. It’s mostly just sitting on the floor and practicing the basics over and over. Some of the kids have been coming here since they were very small. It’s nice to see them grow up and get better at their instruments. We aren't trying to produce famous stars, though it’s great if that happens. Mostly, we just want people to enjoy the music. The afternoons are the busiest when the school day ends and the kids start arriving. It can be a bit chaotic with all the different sounds overlapping, but we're used to it. We just do our own thing here. It’s a local spot where people come to learn something traditional. We don't do much advertising; people just hear the music and stop in to ask about classes. It’s a good way to live, surrounded by all these different melodies every single day.
