About Gayatri Music Classes – Education in Bengaluru
We are tucked away in Bommanahalli at B-308. Gayatri Music Classes is a place where it’s rarely quiet. You walk in and you might hear a keyboard in one corner or someone trying to get a string instrument in tune in another. It’s not a polished recording studio. It’s just a set of rooms where people come to practice and learn. We have some chairs and music stands scattered around. The walls aren't soundproof, so you hear a bit of everything at once, which can be a bit confusing but also nice. It’s a bit messy with cables and cases lying around on the floor sometimes. We’ve been in this spot for a while. The neighborhood is typical for this part of town, lots of people and a bit of a rush. But inside here, we just focus on the notes and the rhythm. We don't have a big stage or flashy lights. It’s about the repetition and the learning. Sometimes a student gets frustrated with a difficult piece and we just take a minute to talk. We don't use fancy modern methods. Just traditional ways of teaching that have worked for us. The coffee shop nearby is okay, and that’s where we usually end up after the last class of the evening. It’s a small community of people who just like making music. We keep the doors open when it’s not too loud outside to let in some air.
