Gajen School Bag

We have been here at 16, 2Nd Cross for a long time now. Papamma Street is usually busy, but inside our shop, things are mostly about fabric and thread. We spend most of our days working on different kinds of school bags. It gets a bit messy sometimes with all the straps and buckles lying around on the floor. People from around Ramamurthy Nagar know where we are. It’s not a big fancy place, just a regular spot in Bangalore where we get the work done. You can usually hear the sewing machines going from the street. My hands are usually stained with some dye or just tired from cutting material all afternoon. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. It is a simple life here. We make sure the bags are sturdy because kids are rough with them. They throw them on the ground or overstuff them with heavy books. We see a lot of parents coming in right before the school season starts. Bangalore 560016 is where we live and work. There isn't much to it besides that. We don't have a big office or a reception area. Just a counter and a lot of bags stacked up against the walls. It feels like home after so many years. The neighborhood has changed but we are still in the same small building doing what we know how to do. That is pretty much the whole story of Gajen School Bag and how we spend our time here.
