Our shop is tucked away on the 14th cross in Shastrynagar, not too far from the Canara Bank. It gets pretty loud inside when all the machines are running at the same time. We spend most of our day dealing with metal parts, oil, and grease. It’s an engineering place, so there’s always something being cut, drilled, or welded. The floor usually has some metal shavings on it no matter how much we try to sweep it up at the end of the shift. We’ve been at this address in Mahadevapura for a long time. People usually find us because of the sign or just by asking around the neighborhood. It’s a bit of a maze back here in Banshankari 2nd Stage, but once you find the 14th cross, we are right there at 118/1. Most of us have oil under our fingernails most of the time. We work on various industrial parts. Sometimes it’s a rush job and we end up staying late into the night, other times it’s just the usual steady hum of the lathes. It’s definitely not a quiet office job. We handle heavy pieces of steel and try to get the measurements exactly right. If a machine breaks down, we spend half the day fixing it ourselves. That's just how it goes in a small workshop like ours. We get raw parts in, we work on them, and then they go out. The tea stall around the corner is where we usually end up.
