Dhanalakshmi Stores

Dhanalakshmi Stores is located at 388 on Sampige Road in Malleshwaram. We are situated between the 8th and 10th Cross, which is a very busy stretch. If you are standing at the City Central Library, we are just right across from there. Malleshwaram has changed a lot over the years but this spot still feels like the old Bangalore I grew up in. The library brings in a lot of students and older folks who like to read the papers. We see them walking by every morning. Sampige Road is always crowded with people shopping for flowers or groceries, especially near the crosses. Our store is not very big, but we have been here long enough that most of the neighbors know us by name. The traffic can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we usually try to get our stock sorted before the rush starts. Sometimes the street lights don’t work right, but the shop lights keep the sidewalk bright. It’s a simple place with shelves full of stuff. We don’t have air conditioning or anything like that, just some fans that hum all day. It gets a bit warm in the summer, but the breeze from the trees on the side streets helps a little. We just open the doors early and stay until the last customer leaves. It's a lot of work but we like being part of the community here.
