Dhanalakshmi Engineering Company has its home in Prakash Nagar, right near the Total Mall on Hosur Road. The address is 1523 1 53. If you’ve ever driven down Hosur Road, you know how the traffic is. It’s usually a crawl, and the dust from the road just kind of settles on everything in the shop. We spend a good chunk of our mornings just dusting off the benches before we can even start on the machines. The shop is a bit cramped and the lighting isn't the best, but we've got all the tools we need tucked into their corners. There’s a guy who sells vadas just a few doors down, and that’s usually our breakfast while we wait for the first customers to show up. It’s a loud place, with the sound of the mall crowds and the grinding of metal from our own work. We don't have a fancy office or any plush chairs. It’s just a lot of steel, oil, and hard work. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the monsoon hits hard, so we have to move the equipment around. We’ve been doing this for years, so we don’t really think about it much anymore. It's just what we do. The neighbors are mostly other small shops, and we all kind of look out for each other when things get busy. It’s a simple life here at 1523. Nothing flashy, just the daily grind.
