Dattatreya Music Academy

We set up Dattatreya Music Academy over at JP 1st Phase, number 190. It’s a house that we converted into a place for music. It’s not a soundproof studio or anything like that, so the neighbors probably hear us more than they’d like. We have different rooms for different instruments, but you can usually hear the drums and the singing all mixed together in the hallway. It’s a bit of a mess with cables on the floor and music stands that don't always stay upright. We don’t have a front desk person or a waiting lounge. People just walk in and find a spot to sit until it’s their turn. Most of us who teach here have been playing for a long time. We aren't trying to be a world-class conservatory, we just like helping local kids and adults learn a few songs. The lighting in the back room is a bit dim and we really need to get that one window fixed because it rattles when the bass gets too loud. It feels more like a home than a school, which is probably for the best. We drink a lot of tea between sessions and talk about which strings work well for different instruments. It’s a casual place. We don't wear uniforms and we don't have a strict handbook. We just show up, play some music, and hope everyone has a decent time. It keeps us busy and the house stays full of sound.
