Cornerstone Drum Academy

Cornerstone Drum Academy is located at number 485 in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar. If you live nearby, you’ve probably heard us before you saw us. Drums are loud, and there is almost always someone practicing a beat or a fill. We aren't a big fancy school with soundproofed glass walls and uniforms. It’s more of a basement and garage vibe where people come to actually learn how to play. We have a few kits set up and they’ve seen a lot of use over the years. Some of the cymbals have cracks and the drumheads get worn out, but that’s how you know people are practicing hard. The neighborhood is mostly residential, so we try to keep the noise down late at night, but during the day it’s pretty constant. We started this because we just liked playing and wanted a place for others to do the same. It’s not about being a rock star; it’s just about hitting things in the right rhythm. Sometimes kids come in and they’re really shy, then they start banging on the snare and they light up. That’s the best part of being here. The room is a bit cramped with all the gear, but we make it work. It’s just an honest place for music in RT Nagar. We don't have a receptionist, so you usually just walk in and find whoever isn't currently behind a kit. There are sticks and practice pads scattered everywhere, but it feels right.
