You’ll find Common Threads over in Venkateshwara Nagara, which is in the Kallipalya area near Jakkur Post. It’s a bit of a quiet spot compared to the center of the city, which we actually prefer. Our workshop is a place where we spend most of our waking hours. We aren't a big factory; it’s more of a dedicated space where a few of us get together to work on textile projects. The neighborhood around Jakkur Post is changing, but Kallipalya still feels like its own little world. We have a few sewing machines and big tables for cutting fabric. It’s not always the tidiest place, especially when we’re in the middle of a big job, but we know where every scrap of thread is. We called it Common Threads because that’s what we use every day, plain and simple. We don't have a fancy sign out front, just the address in Venkateshwara Nagara. Sometimes people wander in looking for a different shop, but they usually end up staying for a chat. We aren't trying to be the biggest business around. We just want to do good work that lasts. Dealing with fabric is something that requires a bit of patience and a steady hand. We take things as they come and don't worry too much about the latest trends. It’s just an honest way to make a living in a part of town we really like. There's a lot of pride in what we do.
