Our place is at No. 30 in the SS Complex, up on the second floor. We are located on Annadanappa Lane, which is just off Avenue Road Cross. If you know the area, you know how crowded these lanes can get. It’s a constant stream of people and carts moving goods. We’ve been in this complex for a good number of years. The office is usually packed with silk samples and rolls of fabric. Since we are on the second floor, we get a bit of a break from the noise of the street, but not much. It’s a small space, and we’ve maximized every inch of it with shelves. I usually handle the phone calls and the visitors while a couple of others manage the stock. Avenue Road is the heart of the cloth trade here, so being close by is important for us. It’s not a fancy showroom. It’s a workspace where we get things done. Sometimes the lift in the building doesn't work, so we have to carry everything up the stairs. It’s a bit of a workout, but that is part of the job. We have a lot of long-term relationships with weavers and buyers. It’s just how business is done in this part of town. We keep it simple and focus on the stock we have. Usually, it's just us and the silk, day in and day out.
