Commercial Times is situated at No. 74/1 on Ebrahim Saheb Street. If you know the area, we are directly opposite the Commercial Plaza. This street is always buzzing with shoppers and vendors, so there is never a dull moment. We deal mostly with watches and clocks. Our shop is quite small, tucked into the row of buildings, and filled with the smell of metal polish and tiny mechanical parts. It’s the kind of place where you have to watch your step because of all the boxes and equipment. We’ve been here for years, watching the street change as new shops come and go. People bring us their watches when they stop ticking or when the glass gets cracked. We sit under bright lights at our benches, working on the small details. It’s a bit of a tradition in our family, this kind of work. We aren’t trying to be a fancy boutique or anything like that. We just provide a place where you can get your watch looked at by someone who knows what they’re doing. The noise from Ebrahim Saheb Street is constant, but inside the shop, we try to keep things focused. It’s a practical business. We fix what’s broken and we sell a few things on the side. If you’re walking past the plaza, you’ll see our sign. We are just local people doing our daily work. There is always a pile of straps and batteries on the counter to deal with first thing.
