Club Nero

St Marks Road is always moving and there’s always something happening right outside our door. We are at number 2. Club Nero is just a place where people end up when they want to sit down for a bit and escape the heat or the noise. It’s been here for a good minute now. The walls are painted dark and we try to keep the music at a level where you can still hear yourself think, at least most of the time. It gets pretty crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, which is expected. The street outside is always full of people walking to the nearby shops or the metro station. We see a lot of different faces through those windows. Some people stay for just one drink while others stay all night long talking. I’m usually found around the back or checking the front door. It’s a lot of work keeping a place like this going every day. The plumbing acts up sometimes because the building is older than it looks from the outside. We just deal with it as it comes. It’s not some high-end lounge with a strict dress code. You can just come as you are. St Marks Road has that old Bangalore feel even though it’s getting faster and more crowded every single year. We try to keep things steady and predictable here. The furniture is a bit worn out in the corners but it’s still comfortable enough. We don’t do much advertising. People just know we're here.
