Chandrika Dance Center

Chandrika Dance Center is found at number 55 in the Vijaya Nagar area. It is a space where there is always some kind of movement going on. We have the wooden floors and the mirrors, and we try our best to keep them clean, though it is quite a task with so many feet coming through every day. Most afternoons, you can hear the music drifting out onto the street before you even reach the front door. We started this place because we wanted a spot right here in our own part of Vijaya Nagar for people to come. It is an older building, but it has a nice, warm feel to it. The younger kids usually come in right after their school finishes, and then the adult groups start showing up later in the evening when it’s cooler. We spend a lot of our time just keeping up with the rhythm of the daily schedule. It gets pretty loud inside, but the people living nearby seem to be used to it by now. Sometimes parents sit outside on the steps and chat if the weather is nice enough. We aren't trying to be a massive academy or anything like that. It is just a local place to learn some steps and move around. Number 55 has become a familiar spot for many families in the neighborhood. We have watched a lot of students grow up here. It is just a regular part of our lives.
