Canopy Restaurant

You have to take the elevator up to the 11th floor of the Public Utility Building to find us. Canopy Restaurant has one of those views of M.G. Road that you don't get from the street level. The building itself is a bit of a landmark, even if it’s getting a little older now. We spend a lot of time looking out the windows while we’re setting up the tables. It’s interesting to see the traffic move down below while it’s relatively quiet up here. We’re a small crew. We handle the cooking, the cleaning, and the serving ourselves. It’s not one of those places with a hundred waiters in stiff suits. We’re more relaxed than that. The breeze is nice when the weather is good. We’ve had a lot of the same customers for years, people who remember coming here when they were younger. We keep the menu simple because that’s what we’re good at. Nothing too fancy or experimental. Just food that tastes right. Sometimes the elevator takes a minute, and the hallway isn't the most modern, but once you're inside, it’s alright. We just keep showing up every day and making sure the coffee is hot and the food is ready. It’s a good spot to sit for a bit and see the city from a different angle. We’re just glad to be up here on M.G. Road.
