Bharat Engineering Works

Bharat Engineering Works has been sitting here at 98-10, 2nd Main Road in Vinayakanagar for as long as I can remember. The neighborhood has grown a lot, but our little corner remains pretty much the same. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for years. The shop is filled with the smell of grease and burnt metal, which I’ve grown to like over time. We do all sorts of engineering jobs, mostly small repairs and custom parts that people can't find anywhere else. Our workbench is scarred with marks from years of heavy use, but it’s solid. We don’t have a fancy office with air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit when it’s on high. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to park on 2nd Main Road because it’s so narrow, so customers usually just pull up on the side. We aren't corporate people; we’re just mechanics and welders who like working with our hands. We talk to everyone who comes in, usually about the weather or how the local cricket team is doing. It’s a friendly place, and we try to be fair with everyone. We don't use any high-tech gadgets for our books, just a simple ledger and a pen. It’s how we’ve always done it, and it works for us.
