Bethel School Of Music

Bethel School Of Music is based out of Pillana Garden, at number 296. It’s a place where there is almost always some kind of noise happening, whether it’s a guitar being tuned or someone practicing their scales on a keyboard. We don't have a massive building, just a practical space where people come to learn how to play instruments. The neighborhood is fairly typical, and we’ve become a familiar part of the street. Students of all ages walk through the door, some carrying their own violins or guitars, others just showing up to use what we have here. We spend the day moving from one lesson to the next. It’s not a formal academy with strict uniforms; it’s much more relaxed than that. We just sit down with the students and work through the music sheets. Sometimes the sounds from the street mix with the music, but we don't mind much. We focus on the basics and help people get better at their own pace. The walls are covered with a few posters, and there’s always an instrument that needs fixing or tuning. It’s a busy life, especially in the evenings when school lets out and the adults finish work. We keep things simple and just focus on the notes and the practice sessions every day here at 296. It is just about learning the songs and enjoying the process of playing something new.
