Bahuchar Engineering Works

Our workshop is at 6, Madhav Estate. It’s right near the railway crossing in the G.I.D.C. Naroda area. You can usually hear the trains going by while we’re working on something. It’s a noisy spot with all the metalwork and the Shreeji Marble place nearby. We do a lot of lathe work and general engineering repairs. It’s greasy and there’s metal shavings everywhere, but we try to sweep up at the end of the day. We aren't some high-tech lab. We have some old machines that still work better than the new ones if you treat them right. We take on whatever jobs come through the door. Sometimes it’s a small part for a neighbor, other times it’s a big project that takes all week. We don't have a front desk or a receptionist. If you come by, you’ll probably find us in overalls under a machine or behind a welding mask. We just like fixing things that are broken. The air is always thick with the smell of cutting oil. It’s just us and our tools. We don't put out brochures or ads. People usually find us because someone else told them we could fix their parts. Naroda is a tough place to work in the heat, but we’re used to it. We just get on with it. It’s not pretty, but it’s honest work. The railway crossing usually tells us when it’s time to pack up.
