Ashwini Engineers

We are down at 11 Bapuji Nagar, right on the 2nd Cross. If you know the old Tolgate on Mysore Road, we are pretty much opposite to that. It is a noisy spot because of all the buses and trucks heading out of town, but we’ve gotten used to the sound. Ashwini Engineers is basically a small workshop where we handle mechanical repairs and some fabrication. There is always a pile of scrap metal near the entrance and the smell of welding in the air. We don’t have a front desk or a lobby. If you want to talk to someone, you just walk in and find whoever isn't under a machine. My clothes are usually stained with oil by ten in the morning. We work with whatever tools we have on hand. Sometimes the spare parts take a while to arrive, so things sit around for a bit. It’s a tight space, and we have to move stuff around constantly just to make room for the next job. The floor is stained dark from years of spills. We don’t mind it. It’s just how an engineering shop looks when it’s actually being used. We keep the doors open for the breeze, even if it brings in the dust from the main road. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy.
