Aar Gee Engineering Works

Working at Aar Gee Engineering Works out of the B.M.C. Compound on Whitefield Road has its ups and downs. The traffic heading toward Mahadevapura is usually a mess, especially in the evenings when everyone is trying to get home. Our workshop is tucked away in the back, where we’ve got our engineering setups. It’s a bit cramped inside because we’ve added more equipment over the years without really expanding the space. Most of our day is spent hunched over blueprints or standing at the workbenches. You get a lot of grease on your clothes here, so nobody ever looks very tidy. The roof leaks a tiny bit in the corner when the monsoon hits hard, but we just put a bucket there and keep working. We handle a lot of different jobs, mostly things people bring in that need a specific fix or a custom piece of metalwork. It’s a lot of manual labor, really. I usually spend my mornings checking the mail and seeing what needs to be finished first. The guys like to listen to the radio while they work, so there's always some music playing over the sound of the drills. We aren't a massive operation, just a local spot where we try to stay honest with the work. Sometimes things go wrong and we have to start over, but that’s just how engineering goes. We’ve been at this address for a long time.
