Govindram Metal Industries

Udyambag is a busy place and we have been here at S.No. 355 for quite a while now. Most days start early before the sun gets too high because the shed can get pretty warm once the machines are running. There is always a layer of metal dust on the tables no matter how much we sweep. It is just the way things go here at Govindram Metal Industries. We have a few guys who have been with us since the start and they know the sounds of the equipment better than anyone. If a motor sounds slightly off they can tell right away. It is not a fancy setup but it gets the job done. Sometimes we sit outside near Plot No. 3 during the tea break and just watch the trucks go by on the main road. The work is mostly about getting the dimensions right and making sure the metal is cut the way it needs to be. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a desk with a lot of papers and some old catalogs. People drop by to talk about their orders and we usually just write things down in a big ledger. It feels good to finish a batch of parts and see them loaded up. The rhythm of the shop is steady and we try to keep it that way even when things get hectic or the power goes out.
