Bharat Iron & Steel Works

Bharat Iron & Steel Works is right on the Poona - Bangalore Road. We are at number 371/ 1+2B. It’s a busy spot with trucks always passing by. If you come here, you’ll see plenty of metal piled up. We spend most of our days dealing with iron and steel. It’s heavy work and my clothes usually end up stained with grease or rust by lunchtime. My father started things here and now I just keep it going. There isn’t a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just the machines and the shed. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait around, which is frustrating but that’s how it goes here. Most of the guys have been with me for years. We know the sounds the machines make when they are running right. It gets loud, so we shout a lot to hear each other. We don't mind the noise much anymore. It's just the sound of things getting made. We handle the cutting and the shaping as it comes in. There’s always more to do than hours in the day. We don’t have a big marketing team or a website that looks nice. We just focus on the orders we have on the desk. People find us because they know where we are on the road. We try to get things done when we say we will, though parts can be late sometimes. It’s just a regular workshop doing what we know how to do with what we have.
