Shine Parlour

Shine Parlour is situated in Rahara, which is a bit of a distance from the main city center of Kolkata. We are very near the Rahara Bajar, so the area is always full of people buying vegetables and household items. It's a lively place to have a business. Our parlour is quite modest. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles. It’s just a place where local women come to get their hair done or get a facial. We use simple products that we know work well. The shop is small and we try to keep it as cool as possible during the summer months. Rahara is a tight-knit community, and news travels fast here. If we do a good job, people talk. If we make a mistake, they talk about that too, so we try our best every day. We’ve been here for several years now. The Bajar nearby means there is always noise and movement outside, which makes the day go by faster. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we often help each other out with small things. It’s a very traditional way of running a business. We don't use much technology, just a notebook to keep track of things and a phone that rings occasionally. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. If you are doing your shopping at Rahara Bajar, you can't miss us. We are just a few steps away from the main market area.
