Fashion Salon

Our place is right on Khardah Station Road. It's across from Harisabha, so it's quite easy to find if you're walking up from the train station. The road is always loud with people rushing to catch their ride or coming back home in the evening. We see the same faces every single day. The shop name is Fashion Salon, though we aren't exactly doing high-fashion or anything like that. We are just a regular place for a haircut. The floor gets covered in hair pretty quick and we spend half the day sweeping it into a corner. It's a bit cramped when three people are waiting at once. We have those blue plastic chairs for people to sit on. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the door for some air until it comes back. Kolkata 700118 is where we've always been. My father worked in a shop similar to this one. I learned by watching him when I was young. We don't use any big machines, just the usual tools. Most people want the same style they’ve had for twenty years and we are happy to do it. It’s a simple living for us. The tea man comes by at four and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. We stay open late because the commuters need their hair done after work. It’s a busy street, but inside, we just focus on the task at hand. No big secrets. Just a shop by the tracks.
